ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - For families working to make ends meet and put gifts beneath the tree this holiday season, the Mobile Community Closet is full of donated clothing, toys, and footwear, but there's a catch — it’s all free.
Ariah Productions is a local, family-run business headed by three sisters — Rosie Lega, Faaleu Faumuina, and Trish Falani. This is their first year hosting the Mobile Community Closet, a community partnership with the Salvation Army and other businesses.
The sisters are just three of nine total siblings. Growing up in a large family, they say they understand how difficult it can be to purchase gifts, let alone clothe the entire family, during the holidays.
“That’s what we do,” Faumuina said. “We come from a big family. We didn’t have anything like this when we were young, so this is a way for us to give back.”
The Mobile Community Closet is open until 4 p.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army Community Center, located at 1701 C St.
