[１６日 ロイター] - 欧州連合（ＥＵ）の外相に当たるボレル外交安全保障上級代表は１６日、イスラエルに対し、パレスチナ自治区ガザを実効支配するイスラム組織ハマスによる１０月７日の攻撃に対する怒りに飲み込まれないよう呼びかけた。その上で「一つの恐怖が他の恐怖を正当化することはない」と言明した。

ボレル氏のイスラエル訪問は１０月７日のハマスの攻撃以来初めて。イスラエルのコーヘン外相とともにハマス襲撃の標的となったキブツ・ベエリを訪れた。

ボレル氏は親や子供が人質として捉えられた人々の気持ちに理解を示した上で、イスラエルに対し、ガザの市民を支援・保護するよう求めている国際的な呼びかけに耳を傾けるよう求めた。

一方、コーヘン氏は１０月７日の攻撃だけでなく、ガザにおけるパレスチナ人の現在の窮状の責任もハマスにあると主張した。
